Message Yup. I would agree.

I was just trying to express the importance to the OP that the timing belt is one of those things that isn't 99% right. It's 100% right, or it's 100% wrong. Just my opinion. But 1 tooth off is 100% wrong in my books.

It does sound like the OP knows what he is doing.

In any case, I think if he can't tell if it is right or wrong, he should just take it apart again and fix it. With the problem he's got with this belt being offset and rubbing, I think he is going to have to take it apart anyhow so he can figure out how to get that belt aligned nicely so it's not rubbing.
